Established in 1812, the Franklin County Bar Association is one of the oldest Bar Associations in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and serves as the professional organization for attorneys interested in promoting the administration of justice and standards of excellence in the legal profession. The Bar Association maintains the objective of fostering an environment in which members experience a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in the practice of law while increasing the public's access to and appreciation of the legal system.

Through the efforts of attorney volunteers and a dedicated administrative staff, the Bar Association develops and sponsors member services, including a monthly newsletter, a variety of educational programs, public forums, and periodic social events.

In addition to the services provided to members, the Bar Association works in collaboration with the Franklin County Bar Advocates Programs and the Massachusetts Bar Foundation to develop and provide legal resources and representation to members of the community who have traditionally experienced difficulty obtaining legal assistance.
